Stone on the original route of the A352 Dorchester to Sherborne valley road near Cerne Abbas, famous for the chalk hillfigure of the Cerne Abbas Giant. This was the original coaching route from Dorchester to Sherborne, and the fortunes of Cerne Abbas declined when the railway way routed through the parallel valley via Maiden Newton, displacing the coaches.
